The Hiragana Double Edge katana has a very unique design and is one of the best handling swords we offer. Featuring a double edge blade, there are two bohi (grooves). One of them goes all the way to the end of the tip and the other about 1/3 up the blade. The combination of the grooves and shape give an exceptionally light and fucntional sword. This sword was designed to cut light targets with ease and is fully capable for use in tameshigiri (test cutting). The extremely tough blade will not break or take a set due to the superior heat treatment of the steel. This is a unique katana with rarely seen design, superior heat treatment, great handling, extremely effective for test cutting.

It is a sharpened double edge katana blade. It is made from T10 steel and forged by repeated folding (13 foldes, 8192 layers) and differential clay tempering and polished using the proper stones.  This high quality full tang double pegged katana exhibits one of the most appealing Hamon temper lines that is authentic and distinct as a result of traditional Clay Tempering Processes.

The balance of the blade is perfect and the sword is completely functional.

The blade features a double Bo-Hi (groove) for better balance and a audible feedback when the sword is swung. The sword is full tang and secured by two mekugi pins.

The saya of the sword is high quality rosewood finish. The sageo is black tied over a wooden kurigata.

This blade features a Japanese blossom Tsuba, copper fuchi kashira, authentic black ray skin samegawa tsuka. It comes with a free silk sword bag.
